A lot of people like me, have office , which work perfectly on windows 7. How the change in Windows will affect this suite. Will it work? Until today, June 1, nobody have the answer to this simple question, neither Microsoft have said anything about it. If anyone accept the free upgrade could, potentially, need to buy a new office suite due to the lack of compatibility.

Was this discussion helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn’t help. And anyway, if you upgrade and it all goes wrong for you, you can always reinstall your win version. Was this reply helpful? I’d rather save myself the headache, and not upgrade from what works fine for me at present, if there’s any chance I will have a problem.

I like to treat my computer like my car, I use it, if it breaks I get a mechanic, but that’s not a good experience so far for me with computers. Threats include any threat of suicide, violence, or harm to another. Any content of an adult theme or inappropriate to a community web site.

By now, Microsoft should know whether earlier versions of Office will run on Windows 10 and should be able to say so with precision.

Please answer with a clear yes or no or with what exceptions might exist. I don’t want to upgrade just to find out that the program I have been using for years to track my mail, finances, documents, etc will no longer work on the new OS.

Reinstalling the earlier Win version is not a short process. Because I use large tables lines are essential to make them readable. So I reverted to 8. All worked ok. When I got Microsoft on the phone they said it was an Office fault!

Funny how an Office fault comes and goes with which Windows is installed. Very unimpressed. I did all the obvious things like reinstalling Office and upgrades; checking on different printers; rebooting lots of times! I did retry Windows 10 – and all was well for a day; and then the faults suddenly reappeared. I will now stay with Windows 8. I am also looking at Apple. In theory Office should work fine. I don’t think I’ve seen any problems with this combo. But, even though Win 10 is called general release, I have read about enough problems with it that I would not recommend “average” users installing it unless you have a very specific need for a new feature in Win Wait until the spring or early summer, let everyone else be the trouble shooters.

If you have MS Office with Windows 7 it should be carried forward along with all your other apps when you upgrade to windows 10 if you included this option. This also applies to Windows 8, 8.

Yes, installed versions of Office are supposed to be “carried over” during an ” upgrade ” to Win The point I was making is that some many? If they didn’t have the product key recorded somewhere, they lose their Office license! So, if you are doing a Windows 10 ” upgrade “, there are a couple of preliminary steps that are usually not mentioned. The second is make sure you have an image copy backup of your current system. Don’t rely on the “rollback” feature.

It is time limited to 30 days and then it auto-deletes, and the deactivation problem has often occurred after that time limit has expired. In reply to Judith Wetcreek’s post on June 6, Yes – Yes – Yes. In reply to Palcouk’s post on June 7, I changed to Windows Office seemed to work ok – except – Neither Excel or Word would show any colours Excel would not print lines or boxes – but Word would.

Both showed underlines. I use vba a lot – and that seems to work ok. The real worry is what else doesn’t work. In reply to RichardGDawson’s post on August 14, Thank you. I will now stick to W7. It works and it works properly. The only issue is that you cannot find it in the Apps list. To use it you need go to the executable file, run it and then right-click the icon on the apps bar to pin it there.
